Raising funds to record the soundtrack

Exciting news about The Wolf of Baghdad motion comic!

Next week sees the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the recording of the music soundtrack to the motion comic. In other words, here’s your chance to pre-order your own copy of the DVD and/or CD and at the same time help fund the recording!

For those who don’t know, Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas. It’s reliant upon the age-old relationship between patron and artist, whereby the former makes a pledge in return for rewards from the latter. Though if the project is not fully funded at the end of the 30-day window it doesn’t go ahead.

And for those of you who do know about Kickstarter, you will have helped many creative projects come to fruition, as I have, and doesn’t that feel good!

As well as a DVD of the animation and CD of the soundtrack, there are some other rather nifty rewards. From a limited-edition signed print of a page or panel from the book to being thanked in the liner notes or even having the 3yin band play a private acoustic concert in your own home! Or you could just leave a contribution. It all helps and you’d get our heartfelt thanks.

Those who have seen the live performances have left incredibly positive feedback. Food writer and cultural anthropologist Claudia Roden called it

An enthralling and moving combination of art and music. It is magical.”

And Edwin Shuker, main protagonist of the film documentary Remember Baghdad, said,

A masterful artistic production capturing the essence of a 2,600 sojourn in Mesopotamia through visuals and sound. I cannot wait to watch it again and again.”

Hopefully, if we can get the soundtrack recorded, he will! The 3yin band would love to have the chance to record this wonderful music and the opportunity for The Wolf of Baghdad to be seen by a much wider audience.

The Kickstarter campaign launches next Monday 17th June. I will update you with further details on the day so stay tuned!
